Researchers investigated grain moisture
content and dehydration rate of grain, subtending leaf, cob with materials of
different corn cultivars of Zhengdan958, Xianyu335, Nonghua101, Denghai11,
Zhongdan909 and Zhengda12.
The results show that grain moisture
content, subtending leaf moisture content, cob moisture content and dehydration
rate of grain are significant different among different corn varieties; Grain
moisture content is highly significantly positively related with that of
subtending leaf and cob (correlation coefficients: 0.777 and 0.267). Moisture
content of subtending leaf is highly significantly positively related with that
of cob (correlation coefficient: 0.312). Xianyu335 and Nonghua101 show a faster
dehydration and a longer rapid dehydration than that of other varieties in the
prophase of grain dehydration. At harvest, rain moisture contents of the two
varieties are 25.40% and 26.58%, respectively. Their characteristics are
conformed to the standard of mechanical harvesting grain and could be used as
standby varieties.
